Once again, Skrå has made a successful journey on the Nordic latitudes. This time our destination was Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, and we can state that this trip was truly a success.

On Friday the 13th of November we performed three sets at the English Pub in the very center of Reykjavik in front of an enthusiastic crowd. We would like to give a special thanks to Siv Friðleifsdóttur, member of the Icelandic parliament, who arranged that gig for us and many other things during our stay. On her blog you can view some pictures from that evening.

We spent the Saturday enjoying some Icelandic ”hot pots” in the outside pools of Laugardalur, as well as some rehearsal for the night's performance. We could say that the gig at ”The World Music Safari Explosion” in the Nordic House was a definite highlight in Skrå's six year long career. The fact that we sold all the records we had taken with us says something about the gig, which was also captured on video here and here.

So far this summer Skrå has had the opportunity to play at Ålands Sjödagar aswell as on the folk music festival Alppipuisto in Helsinki. We are actually going back to Helsinki already on the 12th of August, where we are going to play at Etno-Espa (check the link under Live).

We are also looking forward to the autumn, which holds some fun gigs for us both on Åland aswell as on Iceland and in Finland. We hope to see you there!

For those of you who haven't got a chance to listen to us live, there is actually a new way of listening to our latest CD Bitar. If you have Spotify on your computer, just search for Skrå and the whole album is there free to listen to as much as you want.

After a period of separation due to studying in Sweden the four members of Skrå are once again together. This time on the beautiful Faroe Islands where we'll play four concerts during our stay. To start the spring- and summer season here feels both natural and inspiring. The concert series is arranged by Nordens hus i Torshavn with a helping hand from our record company Tutl.

This mini tour is, apart from the sheer joy of playing live, a further step in the process of spreading our latest record, Bitar. Additionally we got the chance to spread our music even broader today via the Faroese radio.

Bitar has been well received by both press and listeners, and we're very happy that major newspapers in Finland and Sweden (DN, SVD, HBL etc) took notice and gave us some nice reviews.

Today we can announce that Skrå's second album will be released on the Faroese record company Tutl. The album will be called Bitar (eng. "Bits" or "Pieces") and is to be released within the next few weeks.
We are very enthusiastic about the fact that an internationally renowned record company, with over 200 albums in their catalogue, has signed us for this album. The fact that we're on the Tutl label means that our music is now available throughout the world, since they have a large distribution net and a webshop.
In relation to the release we will promote our album on a smaller tour in the Nordic countries. We will, among other places, visit Kaustinen Folk Music Festival (FI) and G! Festival (Faroe Islands).

Today is the first day of Skrås first tour outside Åland. We're currently sitting on the ferry to Kapellskär, Sweden, from there we'll drive to Arlanda airport and. We look forward to visit the Faroe islands where we'll play five gigs.

This week will kick ass!

Yesterday, the 13:th of May, was a good day for Skrå. In the late afternoon our new website was finished. Besides an updated design the major new feature is the welcoming of all of our visitors who don't understand Swedish.

A short while later, Skrå had finished their two songs in the local music competition Musik.ax. After two guest appearances from a Swedish and a Faeroese group the result from the judges and the public voting was ready. Skrå won with 581 points and with a margin of 119 points from the second best. The head price is fourty hours of studio time in Lundgaard Studios in Denmark and of course we're exalted over this great opportunity!
